From Staff and Wire Reports

The Milwaukee Bucks traded former Clipper Kenny Norman to the Atlanta Hawks Wednesday for forward Roy Hinson, who sat out most of the last four seasons because of knee injuries.

The 6-foot-9 Hinson, 33, was acquired by the Hawks two years ago from the New Jersey Nets. In 1990-91, his last active season, Hinson played only nine games, averaging 4.6 points per game for the Nets.

Norman, also 6-9, is a seven-year veteran who averaged 11.9 points, 6.1 rebounds and 2.7 assists for the Bucks last season.

Buck Coach Mike Dunleavy acknowledged that the move was designed to make room under the NBA team’s salary cap. Milwaukee, which won the first pick in Wednesday’s NBA draft and is expected to choose Purdue’s Glenn Robinson, hopes to sign him to a multiyear deal projected to run as high as $100 million.
