Company Town : Showtime Exec Wade Is Lured Away by QVC

Showtime executive Jeffrey L. Wade has been hired by QVC Inc. to become executive vice president of affiliate relations for the home shopping channel. The move is part of an effort to develop QVC’s marketing efforts with local cable systems.

Wade will be in charge of sales and affiliate agreements for QVC. He previously was senior vice president and zone general manager of Showtime Networks Sales and Marketing, where he marketed Showtime, the Movie Channel and Flix to cable systems in various regions.

* MGM/UA Distribution Co. has named Madelyn Fenton Hammond vice president of distribution marketing services.

* Gregory S. Rutkowski has been lured away from AMC Theaters to become president of Pacer-CATS-CCS Group, a joint venture between Ticketmaster and London-based Wembley that provides systems allowing people to reserve movie tickets in advance. Rutkowski was director of AMC’s West Division for 14 years.

* Fox Broadcasting Co. has named Preston Padden to the new position of president of network distribution and Ken Solomon to executive vice president of network distribution. Jon Nesvig has been named president of sales.

* George Goodman has been named vice president of feature production management for Paramount Pictures’ motion picture group.

* Arlyne Willcox has been named senior vice president of business affairs for MCA Home Entertainment Group.
