COSTA MESA/NEWPORT/IRVINE : IRVINE : Water District Budget OK Expected

The water district’s Board of Directors is expected to approve an $82.5-million capital projects budget tonight that calls for the construction of a new reservoir and pipelines.

Ron Young, general manager of the Irvine Ranch Water District, said the various projects contained in the budget will be paid for by water connection fees and property tax assessments.

The budget calls for the construction of a reservoir and access road in the Glenn Ranch area.

Repair work and remodeling is also proposed for the district’s reclaimed water plant on Michelson Drive.

Also planned is the construction of water and sewage systems in new developments such as Westpark II and Northwood 5.

Under the proposed budget, pipelines would also be built in the Irvine Business Complex and Spectrum area to prepare for future commercial and industrial development.
