County Jobless Rate in May Decreases to 6.4%
Ventura County’s jobless rate in May fell to 6.4%, down from 7.4% in April. About 3,300 jobs were created in the county last month, according to the state Employment Development Department.
The May unemployment rate was the lowest since 1991, but the agency said year-to-year comparisons are difficult because its calculating method has changed.
Month-to-month gains were reported in manufacturing, construction, transportation, utilities and retailing.
