GOINGS ON : Folks Will Get a Bang Out of Fourth of July : Gala three-day celebration offers wining, dining and patriotic tunes. Then fireworks will light up Santa Barbara night.

As the Summer Solstice Celebration a couple of weeks ago proved, Santa Barbara County knows how to throw a party. And form is likely to hold true this weekend as the Fourth of July rolls around.

Here are some events for you that are spread out over Saturday, Sunday and Monday, so you could, assuming that you have the stamina and tickets are available, attend them all.

First, the folks at Santa Ynez Winery will be cooking up tri-tip for a Saturday barbecue on the lawn overlooking the vineyard. Wine, of course, will be available for sampling. The party will run from noon to 4 p.m. Tickets are $15 (general), $7.50 (ages 10-21), free (under 10). Call (800) 864-3443 for reservations, which are filling fast. The winery is at 343 N. Refugio Road.

On Sunday, the Fess Parker Winery in Los Olivos will host the Davy Crockett All-American Independence Day Celebration, with re-enactments of the historical events from the 1800s, stage coach rides, country music and a chicken dinner. There will also be a Davy Crockett costume contest for children and a visit by Davy himself. Tickets are $25 (adults), $12 (children). Call 688-1545 for reservations. This, too, is filling up quickly.

Then on Monday (the real holiday), the best bet is to just hang around downtown Santa Barbara, with most of the day’s activities taking place on Cabrillo Boulevard near Stearns Wharf.

A car show and crafts show will be held simultaneously on Cabrillo from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be a picnic at Pershing Park (at Cabrillo and Castillo Street) from 11 a.m. to dusk, and a parade will run along Cabrillo (from the Red Lion resort to Castillo) starting at 6:30 p.m. Finally, a big fireworks display beginning at 8:30 p.m., launched from offshore, will be visible from the beaches adjacent to the wharf.

In a Fourth of July event away from Cabrillo Boulevard, the Santa Barbara Symphony will present a free concert of pop and patriotic tunes at the Santa Barbara Courthouse Sunken Gardens starting at 4:30 p.m. The courthouse is at 118 E. Figueroa St.

UC Santa Barbara’s summer film series will continue tonight with the 1993 love story “Shadowlands,” starring Anthony Hopkins and Debra Winger and directed by Richard Attenborough. Show time is 7 p.m. General admission is $5. Call 893-3535 for information.

Basketball, kayaking, Special Olympics golfing, volleyball, racquetball, lawn bowling, bicycling, swimming, yachting, billiards, tennis and roller hockey. These are some of the amateur sports events scheduled for the 57th annual Semana Nautica Summer Sports Festival on Friday through July 10 in and around Santa Barbara. All events are free. Conductor William McGlaughlin and the Music Academy of the West symphony will open the school’s 47th annual Summer Festival on Saturday with a concert at Santa Barbara’s Lobero Theatre beginning at 8 p.m. Tickets are $15. The Lobero is at 33 E. Canon Perdido St. Call 963-0761 for information.

The Larry Karush Trio will blend Native American, African, South American and Western music in a unique jazz concert Sunday at Montecito’s White Winds Studio. The show will begin at 4 p.m. Admission is $15. Call 969-5718 for reservations. The studio is at 113 Middle Road.

Actress Barbara Perry, whose career spans television to Broadway, will star in the Santa Barbara Civic Light Opera presentation of “Passionate Ladies.” The one-woman musical will run Wednesday through July 10 at Santa Barbara’s Center Stage Theater.

In “Passionate Ladies,” which Perry also wrote, the actress plays the roles of five women: a stripper, an English professor, an acting coach, a housewife and an aging tap-dancer. In 1980, the show won two Los Angeles Critics Circle Awards and two Los Angeles Dramalogue Awards.

Show times are at 8 p.m. Wednesday through July 9, 2 p.m. July 7 and 9, and 4 p.m. July 10. Tickets for Wednesday night’s show, a Civic Light Opera fund-raiser, are $55, which includes pre- and post-performance receptions. Tickets for the remaining shows are $18. Call (800) 366-6064.
