PISTOL PACKING: If the Eagles associated hell freezing over with their reunion, what cataclysmic event would accompany a reunion by the surviving members of the Sex Pistols--a group whose feuding made the Eagles’ wars look like mere play?

We might find out soon.

Pop Eye hears that John Lydon (the former Johnny Rotten) is talking about making an appearance with Pistols’ guitarist Steve Jones and drummer Paul Cook as part of a show at the House of Blues on July 16 benefiting the T.J. Martell Foundation and headlined by Cheap Trick.

The Cult’s Ian Astbury and Billy Duffy are also slated to be guest Pistols for the night. There’s also talk that Lydon will play alongside Jones and other celebs in the Martell-benefiting “Rocker Soccer” game on July 9.

Sources connected with the event say that Lydon may be willing to put aside his longstanding disdain for his former mates for this event. The reason, one suggests, may not be altogether altruistic: “He’s got a book to sell,” the source says, referring to Lydon’s new autobiography.

Lydon’s spokesman, though, insists that the iconoclastic icon stands by his vow never to revive the Pistols. “He told me he would never do it under any circumstances,” says Michael Pagnotta. “He said, ‘Absolutely not.’ ”
