ARLETA : 1 Dead, 4 Injured in Freeway Accident
A 72-year-old woman was killed and four other people were injured when their car struck a lightpole, authorities said Wednesday. The California Highway Patrol said the accident occurred Tuesday evening when the car got a flat tire while traveling southbound on the Golden State Freeway near Osborne Street in Arleta.
The driver of the vehicle, who has not been identified, lost control of the car, causing it to slam into a lightpole on the Osborne Street off-ramp, CHP Officer Ron Kilgore said.
Angela Hernandez of North Hollywood died in the crash, Kilgore said.
The other passengers suffered minor injuries and were treated at Holy Cross Medical Center, Kilgore said.
