SIMI VALLEY : Ex-Police Chief to Seek Seat on City Council

Promising a law-and-order platform for his campaign, former Simi Valley Police Chief Lindsey Paul Miller said Wednesday that he will run for election to one of two open City Council seats.

Miller said he plans to formally announce his candidacy July 21, adding his name to a list of four other Simi Valley candidates for the council seats now held by Sandi Webb and Judy Mikels.

Miller, 55, spent nearly 33 years as a policeman--20 with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and the rest as chief of Simi Valley Police until his Feb. 11 retirement.

Other candidates are Dean F. Kunicki, 49, president of a Thousand Oaks-based company; Michael S. Mc Caffrey, 34, an insurance underwriter; Debi Schultze, 37, a mortgage loan processor; and Joseph R. Vesalga, 39, a computer operator.
