Wednesday’s Witnesses

Share

Here is a summary of Wednesday’s testimony in the O.J. Simpson preliminary hearing:

* Detective Mark Fuhrman, one of the first detectives assigned to the case. In his second day on the stand, Fuhrman said investigators did not know what to expect when they arrived at O.J. Simpson’s Brentwood house and that he was startled to find a glove matching one found at the murder scene.

* Detective Philip L. Vannatter, one of two lead investigators on the case. Testified that he and three other detectives went to Simpson’s house to notify him of the killings but once there, grew concerned that there might be trouble inside.

* Brian (Kato) Kaelin, guest house tenant of Simpson. Also testifying for the second time, Kaelin said officers did not express any concern to him about other possible victims at the house.

* Arnelle Simpson, O.J. Simpson’s 25-year-old daughter. Said she had been awakened by police officers about 5:30 a.m. and that, to her, they appeared to be there to find her father. She said she called her father’s assistant to help track him down.

* Cathy Randa, Simpson’s longtime administrative assistant. Testified that she got a call from a “hysterical” Arnelle Simpson about 5:45 a.m. and that she then spoke to police, telling them that Simpson was in Chicago and giving them the number of his hotel.

* Dennis Fung, a criminalist employed by the Los Angeles Police Department. Said he tested red stains at Simpson’s home and found that they appeared to be blood. He added, however, that the tests he did at the scene were only preliminary and not conclusive.
