An 18-year-old Sun City man was quickly tracked down and arrested on suspicion of carjacking Saturday night after allegedly stealing a car at gunpoint, authorities said.

Michael Gio Cyns was booked into the Huntington Beach city jail about 10:15 p.m. after Officer Mike Garcia spotted him driving the victim’s car, police said. The car was recovered without any damage and the weapon, a chrome two-shot derringer, was confiscated, police said.

Dan Nicholson, 29, a mechanic from Laguna Hills, told police that Cyns confronted him with a gun shortly after he stopped in front of a friend’s residence in the 8100 block of Foxhall Drive.

Cyns told Nicholson that “I really hate to do this but give me your keys,” said Sgt. Bill Peterson of the Huntington Beach police.

After the car was taken, Nicholson ran into his friend’s home and called police. Garcia saw the car about 10 minutes later and, with the help of two other police cars, stopped it without incident near Atlanta Avenue and Baltimore Street, Peterson said.
