Council Appoints 7 to Parks, Planning Panels

The City Council has appointed three people to the Planning Commission and four to the Parks and Recreation Commission.

Named to the Planning Commission were Marge Kasalek, Nanette Lunn and Howard Mitzman. Their two-year terms will begin July 25, according to Tustin Chief Deputy Clerk Valerie Whiteman.

Kasalek, who has served on the Planning Commission for the past four years, is a small-business co-owner who previously worked as a purchasing agent for a pharmaceutical company. Lunn manages a local apartment complex and was formerly a city administrator in Flint, Mich. Mitzman is a land developer who founded Mitzman Properties, a consulting firm.

Appointed to the Parks and Recreation Commission were Donald H. Biery, Chris Cormack, Karen Hillyard and Jeannie Jackson. Their two-year terms will begin July 21.

Biery is a real estate agent and a former parks and recreation director for the cities of Tustin and Walnut Creek. Cormack, who was named to his second term on the commission, is a clinical research associate. Hillyard is a former senior manager with Martinez-based Discovery Toys. Jackson is a word processor and regional office news reporter for State Farm Insurance in Irvine.
