Share

A man convicted of attempting to kill the trial witness in an El Segundo murder case has been sentenced in Torrance Superior Court to life in prison.

Erik Womack, 29, also was convicted last week of intimidating the witness, Thomas Sembower. Sembower is scheduled to testify against four defendants charged with killing the daughter of Alan West, a former El Segundo councilman.

Sembower was under police protection the night he was slashed and choked outside an El Segundo hotel in March. He has since been placed under the protection of the district attorney’s office.

Sembower testified that two other people were involved in the attack but they have never been identified.

Robert Foster, one of the four charged with killing 25-year-old Tairree Lynne West, could face the death penalty. The other defendants could be sentenced to life in prison with no possibility of parole. A trial date for the four defendants has not been set.
