SAN MARINO : Soccer Falcons to Play Nation of San Marino

Share

A soccer game between the Republic of San Marino and a local semi-professional team will be played tonight at San Marino High School.

In a celebration of the World Cup soccer tournament, the team from one of Europe’s smallest nations will play the Falcons, one of the Southland’s most-respected teams. The Republic of San Marino and the city of San Marino have also declared themselves sister cities.

The team from the tiny nation, where 20,000 people live surrounded by Italy, did not qualify for the World Cup Finals tournament. In the past, however, the team has played teams from places such as England, the Netherlands and Norway in international games.

The game begins at 7:30 p.m. at San Marino High School, 2701 Huntington Drive. The entry fee is $5 for adults and $2 for children. Refreshment and food sales will benefit the junior class at the high school.
