LAGUNA BEACH : Nude Man Arrested After Traffic Crash

A nude, 23-year-old man was arrested here Wednesday after crashing his pickup truck into two vehicles, then ricocheting off three others, police said.

Phillip Harvey Kile of Seal Beach was taken into custody about 10:10 a.m. in a hilly area in the 20200 block of Laguna Canyon Road after running from his wrecked 1988 Chevrolet pickup truck, police said.

Kile was taken to Saddleback Memorial Medical Center, then transported to the Orange County Jail, where he was being held on suspicion of driving under the influence, reckless driving, hit-and-run driving and driving on a suspended license, police said.

A California Highway Patrol officer noticed Kile’s truck traveling erratically northbound on El Toro Road near Moulton Parkway, according to authorities.

The officer turned on his overhead lights and gave chase, but broke off when the truck speeded up and the officer believed it was too dangerous to continue, police said.

As the CHP officer was sending in a report over his radio, he reached the accident scene.

Kile’s truck hit two vehicles as he drove in the oncoming southbound lane of Laguna Canyon Road, then struck three more vehicles waiting at a traffic signal, police said. When arrested, Kile was hiding face down amid weeds and rocks, they said.

Police Sgt. Ray Lardie said there were no serious injuries. Police had no explanation why Kile was naked.
