OXNARD : Man Arrested Hours After Bank Robbery

Share

Oxnard police and FBI agents Wednesday arrested a 26-year-old man less than four hours after a California Federal Bank branch in south Oxnard was robbed.

Officer Michael Williamson said John William Putnam entered the bank at 2900 Saviers Road just before 10 a.m. Wednesday, demanded money and escaped with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Investigators identified the suspect and staked out Putnam’s Lark Street home in Oxnard. He was arrested without incident about 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Gary Auer of the Ventura office of the FBI said Putnam appears to be the same man who robbed the California Federal office July 7.

No money was recovered at the time of Putnam’s arrest, police said.
