Countywide : Golf Tournament to Aid Charity Groups

Share

Three Orange County charities that help child abuse victims will receive proceeds from a benefit golf tournament at Tustin Ranch Golf Course on Tuesday.

The “$100,000 Tee Off Against Child Abuse” will support ARK, Services for Abused Children; Child or Parental Emergency Services (COPES); and Family Services of Orange County. The three charities are considering a merger, according to Monica Milstead, ARK’s community relations manager.

Orange-based ARK provides free counseling, tutoring, social activities and other services for abused children placed in foster homes by the county. The agency also matches the children with adult volunteers in a program similar to “big brothers/big sisters” and arranges monitored visits between the children and their parents.

COPES operates group homes for abused children in Santa Ana, Tustin and Orange. Family Services, with offices in Laguna Hills and Fullerton, offers crisis counseling for families and individuals.

Admission to the golf tournament is $150 per person, which includes green fees, a continental breakfast, gifts and an awards luncheon. A $100,000 cash prize will be presented if a golfer makes a hole-in-one on the 17th hole. Other prizes include a cruise of the Bahamas, a golf weekend, and round-trip airline tickets.

Tournament reservations are available by calling Milstead at (714) 978-0340.
