Man Stabbed in Spat Over Cat
An argument over a pet cat landed one man in the hospital with a stab wound and another in jail Monday afternoon.
According to police and neighbors, the argument began when James E. Odell’s cat got under a neighbor’s car in the mobile home park where the two live in the 14000 block of Hoover Street.
During the fight, according to Sgt. Tom Pixler of the Westminster Police Department, a neighbor, Gerard Whalen, stabbed Odell with a pocketknife.
Whalen, 37, was arrested and taken to the Orange County Jail where he was booked on suspicion of attempted murder, Pixler said.
Odell, 28, was in stable condition at UCI Medical Center with a knife wound in the abdomen.
