TALKING SPACE: With Wednesday the 25th anniversary of the first moon walk, many former astronauts are in demand for appearances. Can you name the original seven astronauts? It may get more difficult after Alan Shepard, Gus Grissom and John Glenn. The others are Walter Schirra, Scott Carpenter, Deke Slayton and Gordon Cooper. Cooper will be at the Richard Nixon Library & Birthplace today to kick off a special moon-landing exhibit. . . . Nixon, after all, was president when the moon landing occurred. The library will also show “The Right Stuff,” the movie about the original seven.

MOON PARTY: They’ve got good reason at Rockwell in Seal Beach to get excited about the moon landing anniversary: A lot of Rockwell parts went into the Apollo space capsule that made the trip. . . . . Wednesday morning, 2,500 employees will be in space-design T-shirts to greet Gov. Pete Wilson at their private, live-band party. On hand will also be some of the Rockwell engineers who worked on that moon landing project.

PRE-EUROPE: Country music’s Buck Owens and Merle Haggard have much in common: They’re both from Bakersfield, Haggard was once married to Owens’ ex-wife, and they both love playing the Crazy Horse Saloon in Santa Ana. Owens is back there at 8:30 tonight, and--a rarity--the show is free. . . . Dinner guests can get reserved seats, but after that it’s first come, first served. Owens, who hasn’t performed live anywhere in two years, added the last-minute concert as a warm-up for his upcoming European tour.

SHUE TIME: Tonight is the debut of “Melrose Place” TV star Andrew Shue for the indoor soccer Splash at The Pond of Anaheim (C1). Shue, a soccer standout at Dartmouth, will also play Thursday night for the second-place Splash (9-4) against Arizona. . . . Tonight’s opponent is the Washington Warthogs. Usually they’re the ones who pique fan interest. One Warthog is the first woman to play professional soccer, forward Colette Cunningham.
