WEEKEND TV : ‘Apollo 11’ Relives 1969 Mission to Moon
KCET-TV Channel 28 launches “Apollo 11: As It Happened,” a six-hour ride to the moon and back, with a look at the mission’s preparation, launch, lunar landing and return to Earth. Packaged by ABC News, the 1969 telecast is anchored by the late Frank Reynolds, with reports from Jules Bergman, Peter Jennings and Tom Jarriel, Sunday from 1-7 p.m.
In sports, the Goodwill Games begin today from St. Petersburg, Russia, on ABC, KMEX-TV Channel 34 and TBS.
Today’s schedule includes the opening ceremony, volleyball, boxing and swimming, at 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., on Channels 7, 3, 10 and 42; 1 p.m. on Channel 34 and 5 p.m. on TBS. On Sunday, basketball, boxing, and track and field are on the menu starting at 10 a.m. on Channels 7, 3, 10 and 42, noon on Channel 34 and 5 p.m. on TBS.
