Need to register your bicycle? Want to become a retired senior volunteer for a law enforcement agency?

Then the place to go Saturday is the Ortega Business Center from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Representatives from the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, the Fire Department, the California Highway Patrol and the Border Patrol will be on hand to describe their law enforcement strategies and how members of the public can participate in local anti-crime programs.

As part of National Day Out, which is observed by law enforcement agencies across the country to heighten awareness of crime and drug prevention, they also will provide free fingerprinting of children and free bicycle registration.

Information will be available too on volunteer opportunities for retired seniors.

The event is open to residents of San Juan Capistrano, San Clemente and Dana Point.

The law enforcement agencies are also asking that people leave on their porch lights the evening of Aug. 2 as a signal to criminals that they support fire and crime prevention and drug education.

The Ortega Business Center is at Ortega Highway and Rancho Viejo Road.
