Pro Bowl tight end Brent Jones of the San Francisco 49ers has suffered an injury to his surgically repaired right ankle.

Jones underwent an MRI and a team spokesman said tests showed Jones had a stress reaction in his right ankle, but there is no new fracture. The 49ers said Jones would be on crutches for three to five days and will be sidelined for the Arizona game on Aug. 5.

Jones, 30, suffered a break of the ankle at the Pro Bowl in February in Hawaii.

Rookie linebacker Trev Alberts’ contract problems have come to an end after several days of negotiations and confusion, Indianapolis Colt General Manager Jim Irsay said.

“We got the language worked out, and it has been sent to the league,” Irsay said. “Trev will be allowed to resume practice.”

Alberts had sat out nearly two weeks of training camp and a five-day rookie orientation before recently signing a six-year contract reportedly worth about $8.1 million. He then sat out four practice sessions because of concerns about the contract’s language.
