Santa Ana Signs a Resolution Backing Efforts to Keep the Rams in Anaheim

The City Council passed a resolution urging the Los Angeles Rams to stay in Anaheim and cited the potential economic harm the team’s departure could have on the community.

The council approved the resolution unanimously at its regular meeting Monday.

The resolution urges support for the team’s continued presence stating that “the Rams organization and player payrolls create a positive financial impact throughout the Orange County area.”

Should the team leave, local charities that benefit from their association with players for fund-raising activities would suffer revenue losses. Further, businesses such as hotels and restaurants would see reduced trade and be forced to lay off employees.

The Rams in May invoked an escape clause in their stadium lease that allows them to leave in 15 months, and the team has been fielding relocation offers from Baltimore, St. Louis and other cities that are offering new stadiums built with public funds.
