Convict Lake Can’t Hold Trophy Trout Breakout

The hanging of big fish is becoming a popular pastime at Convict Lake.
“Every day they’re bringing in no less than four and as many as six fish in the three-, four- and five-pound range,” said David DeSurra, owner of the concession at the picturesque Eastern Sierra reservoir.
And then there was the 6-pound 8-ounce rainbow--the biggest catch in the region to date--pulled from the inlet by Bill Evans of Upland.
“I have 32 pictures of big fish taken in the last week,” DeSurra said, adding that there have also been plenty of limits of pan-size fish coming in.
