Charity Awards Nominations Taken

Nominations for three awards recognizing outstanding work done by charity workers in the Ventura and Santa Barbara county region are being taken through Aug. 27.

Awards for Philanthropist of the Year, Volunteer of the Year and Professional Fund-Raiser of the Year are being given by the regional chapter of the National Society of Fund Raising Executives.

An individual, corporation or foundation can qualify for the philanthropist award by demonstrating civic responsibility by contributing to one or more major fund-raising projects, said society spokeswoman Tanya Gonzales.

The volunteer award will go to an individual who has demonstrated exceptional leadership in a major fund-raising project. The professional fund-raiser award is to be presented to an individual who practices fund-raising in the most “effective, creative and highest ethical manner,” Gonzales said.

Nomination forms are required and can be obtained by calling awards organizer Faye McDonald at 642-0239, Ext. 766. The awards will be presented at a celebration at the Doubletree Hotel in Ventura on Nov. 11, Gonzales said.
