Mary Nahas, office manager at Arroyo Vista School, has been named one of five statewide employees of the year by the California School Employees Assn.

Nahas, who has been at the school for two years, is scheduled to receive her award today at the CSEA’s 68th annual conference in San Jose.

Nahas of Mission Viejo was selected the top office manager out of 84 nominees throughout the state, said Dick Campbell, principal at Arroyo Vista School.

“To be judged first in the state was pretty impressive,” Campbell said. “We are very proud of her.”

Nahas has been a member of the CSEA’s Capistrano chapter since 1985. She is the chapter’s chief job steward.

Before coming to Arroyo Vista School, Nahas worked at Viejo School in Mission Viejo for eight years.

Nahas started with the district in 1979 as a school clerk, said Jacqueline Price, spokeswoman for the Capistrano Unified School District.
