ALHAMBRA: An unidentified man, an apparent suicide, was found hanging from a tree Monday morning. The man, described by police as between 25 and 50 years old, had tied his shoelaces to a tree near a concrete storm channel near New and Adams avenues. He was discovered at 7 a.m. but had apparently been there for a couple of days, police said.

ARCADIA: A bank was robbed Aug. 4 by a man who handed a teller a note demanding that she empty her cash drawer. Home Savings Bank at 60 E. Huntington Drive was robbed about 1:30 p.m., police said. The thief escaped with $1,300.

AZUSA: A 36-year-old Covina man, identified by authorities as a gang member, was shot and killed outside an apartment building Aug. 4. Ricky Torres Delgado died at 212 S. Azusa Ave. shortly after the 11:30 p.m. incident, Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies said. He had been shot numerous times. The occupants of a red 1989 Jeep Wrangler parked outside the building began shooting at Delgado, deputies said. The assailants then fled the scene but were spotted a short time later by Monrovia Police, who recognized the vehicle as one reported stolen. After a brief chase by car and on foot, police arrested Anton Delano Irvin, 19, of Baldwin Park, on suspicion of murder. He is being held in L.A. County Jail in lieu of $1 million bail. A passenger in the Wrangler remains at large.

BALDWIN PARK: A butcher shop was robbed Saturday by two men with handguns who ordered employees into a freezer. The store in the 3200 block of Baldwin Park Boulevard was robbed at 4:50 p.m., police said. The gunmen entered the store, ordered sodas and then pointed weapons at the three employees, forcing them to empty the cash register. The employees were then told to get in the walk-in freezer, police said. No one was hurt, and the robbers escaped with an undisclosed amount of cash.

BALDWIN PARK: A 64-year-old Baldwin Park woman allegedly shot her 61-year-old husband in the arm after a fight Aug. 4. Rita Yates was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after allegedly shooting her husband, Jack Struble, in the right arm with a .38-caliber revolver. The shooting took place in the couple’s home in the 14400 block of Cavette Place about 7 p.m., police said. Struble was listed in stable condition at Queen of the Valley Hospital in West Covina.

COVINA: A 36-year-old Covina man was struck and killed by an alleged drunken driver Sunday night as he crossed the street at Citrus Avenue and Benbow Street. Mark David Ulrich was struck at 10 p.m. as he walked across Citrus Avenue. He died at the scene. A 1991 Toyota Camry traveling north on Benbow Street hit Ulrich, knocking him up over the hood and into the windshield, police said. The driver of the Toyota, Ralph Rios, 39, was arrested on suspicion of manslaughter and felony drunken driving. He is being held at the Covina City Jail in lieu of $35,000.

DIAMOND BAR: Two 13-year-old boys were arrested Sunday on suspicion of unlawfully setting a fire, sheriff’s deputies said. The boys, whose names were not released because of their age, were booked at the Walnut Sheriff’s station and were released to their parents. Sheriff’s deputies believe the boys may be responsible for a three-acre brush fire that started about 7:20 p.m. Sunday in the 1800 block of South Diamond Bar Boulevard.

POMONA: A 39-year-old Chino woman and a year-old Chino girl were killed Friday when their car veered into oncoming traffic. Catalina Chavez and Rayleen Orozco died in the 1:15 p.m. accident, police said. Chavez was driving south on Reservoir Street when her car veered into the northbound lane and slammed into a car driven by Arias Villagran, 30, of Ontario. Chavez and Orozco, who was in a child safety seat in the back of the car, were taken to Pomona Valley Medical Center, where they died a short time later. Villagran complained of leg pain, but declined medical treatment. His passenger, Teresa Tolentino, was taken to Pomona Valley Medical Center and treated for a broken leg. No arrests were made.
