OXNARD : City Sues Opera for Unpaid Bills

Share

The city of Oxnard has filed a lawsuit against the Santa Barbara Civic Light Opera seeking nearly $47,000 in unpaid bills for the use of the Oxnard Civic Auditorium, according to court records.

The suit says the opera failed to pay for using the auditorium in June, 1991.

In all, the opera was to pay the city $60,367 for the hall rental. Instead, the opera paid just $13,403.

Messages left for the opera’s general manager were not returned Friday.

Alan Holmberg, an attorney who filed the civil suit for Oxnard, said the city decided on legal action after trying to work out payment plans with the opera.
