Ford and Hanks Clearly in Top Form
The drawing power of Harrison Ford and Tom Hanks was in clear evidence over the weekend as two films from Paramount Pictures continued to dominate at the box office. Ford’s “Clear and Present Danger” brought in $16 million at the box office during a weekend in which no big-budget movies debuted. Hanks’ “Forrest Gump” pulled in more than $14 million in its sixth week of release. To date, “Gump” has made more than $188 million.
The star power of comedian Jim Carrey also worked as New Line Cinema’s special-effects laden film, “The Mask,” grossed $10 million from Friday through Sunday, for a three-week total of $70 million.
* Grammercy Pictures’ “The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert” took in a healthy $219,433 on seven screens.
