The Orange Unified School District announced that it has hired a temporary assistant superintendent for educational services. Arthur J. Townley, 61, a professor of educational administration at Cal State San Bernardino, began working in the No. 2 spot on July 14.
“He’s my right-hand person,” acting Supt. Robert L. French said.
Townley, who said he is not applying for a permanent job, supervises physical operations and instructional problems at the district’s 37 schools.
He holds a doctorate in education from USC and a master’s degree from Cal State Los Angeles. He has served as principal, assistant superintendent and superintendent of various Southern California schools since 1966.
