WHITTIER : City Council Members to Get 2.9% Pay Hike
The Whittier City Council has unanimously approved a $15-a-month pay raise, the council’s first increase in five years.
Council members decided to raise their pay by 2.9%, from $502 to $517 a month.
“Since it’s been five years it’s been way too long,” Councilman Allan P. Zolnekoff said. “It’s better to give a small raise here and there than to eventually give a 50% one down the line.”
The council also approved raises this year for the city’s 366 employees. Police received a 3.5% pay raise and other employees received a 2% increase.
