Cocaine, Pot Seized; Camarillo Man Held

Three months of undercover investigation led to the arrest of a Camarillo man and the seizure of more than two pounds of marijuana and assorted other drugs and paraphernalia, authorities said Thursday.

Officials from the East Valley Sheriff’s Department narcotics unit arrested Steve Rivera, 25, about 9 p.m. Wednesday after purchasing half an ounce of cocaine and two pounds of marijuana from Rivera through undercover detectives over the length of the investigation, officials said.

Deputies executed a search warrant at Rivera’s home in the 200 block of Peoples Street in Camarillo late Wednesday.

Inside the home they found 2 1/2 pounds of marijuana, an ounce of cocaine, 19 ampuls of anabolic steroids, 21 syringes and four grams of hashish, authorities said.

No estimated street value of the illegal drugs and paraphernalia was provided by investigators.

Rivera was arrested on suspicion of possession of marijuana and cocaine, possession for sale of marijuana and cocaine, and possession of dangerous drugs.

He is in custody at Ventura County Jail in lieu of $20,000 bail and is scheduled to be arraigned today in Ventura County Municipal Court.
