Measure Z Hard-Won

To answer Timothy Freeman’s complaint about the well-organized, unopposed Save Our Port Hueneme Police Department campaign: Pay attention to the facts, and you will know our City Council is not stealthily voting in anything. How ludicrous.
Eight months of hard work gave us close to 65% of the vote on Measure Z. Why was the campaign unopposed? Why did we have money to spend? The majority of the people want our city to remain crime-free and safe.
Four months before the election, the City Council discussed the utility tax and it was reported in the paper. The council went with the majority of the voters, which is right. I am flattered Mr. Freeman feels our committee was so powerful that we could appeal to the City Council after the election and have them bow to us and pass a utility tax. That is not how the city works. Our city is saved, and there are no bums here.
