The Damned (Bravo Sunday at 8 p.m.) is Luchino Visconti’s elegant 1969 masterpiece, a powerful indictment of Nazi Germany in which the fall of one family allegorically encompasses the malaise of an entire culture. Dirk Bogarde, Ingrid Thulin and Helmut Berger star.

Grand Isle (TNT Tuesday at 11 p.m.) is Mary Lambert’s intimate 1991 adaptation of Kate Chopin’s 1899 novel “The Awakening.” It charts the sexual and creative blossoming of a young woman (Kelly McGillis) who has married in New Orleans’ rigid Creole aristocracy.

The Double Life of Veronique (Cinemax Thursday at 5:20 a.m.) is Krzysztof Kieslowski’s sly 1991 fable about two women, both played by Irene Jacob, who never meet but whose lives intertwine.
