2 Agencies Win AIDS Education Contracts

Share

The Ventura County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday approved AIDS education contracts for two agencies, focusing on Latinas of childbearing age and young gay men.

El Concilio Del Condado De Ventura, a local Latino organization, was granted $31,900 to provide AIDS education services to the Latino community, focusing on young women. Robert Collins, an AIDS educator at the Gay and Lesbian Community Center, was awarded $41,000 to provide AIDS prevention services to gay and bisexual men, primarily those who are young.

Both contracts are part of a master funding plan for state-supported AIDS education, testing and case management approved by the board last week.

The plan combines four separate programs under one $423,000 grant from the state Department of Health Services.
