Skip Holtz, Connecticut Open With Loss

Clarence Wiggins returned an interception 31 yards for a touchdown Saturday to help Nicholls State to a 16-7 victory over Connecticut.

The loss spoiled the head coaching debut of Connecticut’s Skip Holtz, son of Notre Dame coach Lou Holtz.

Wiggins’ second interception, on the third play of the second half, was returned for a touchdown, giving Nicholls State a 13-7 lead.
