Yorba Linda : Correction Made in General Plan Map

Share

An error in Yorba Linda’s General Plan map, which indicates Bastanchury Road will be extended eastward in a straight line to connect with two existing residential streets, has been corrected.

Residents of the area had circulated a flyer protesting the error.

Yorba Linda is planning to extend Bastanchury from Lakeview Avenue to Fairmont Boulevard as part of a proposed 879-acre residential development on the city’s northern border. A map included in the city’s General Plan shows incorrectly that the extension will intersect with Avocado Avenue and Ohio Street.

Some residents on those streets were concerned that the city would extend their streets into the new development, where more than 2,000 houses are expected to be built.

“We never got any calls from those residents, but as soon as we saw the flyer, we took care of the error,” said Patricia Haley, community development director.

The extension of Bastanchury, which currently ends at Lakeview, was approved in 1989. At that time, in response to objections of residents on Avocado and Ohio, the city realigned the planned extension of Bastanchury to veer north so it would not connect with the streets.

The General Plan map was never changed to reflect the realignment. The error was discovered during discussion about the proposed Shell Development north of Bastanchury.
