* New Media: Media companies tired of waiting for interactive television are suddenly flocking to the Internet, a global computer network with an estimated 20 million users, as a distribution medium for new digital services. Sony Corp. of America said Thursday that it plans to start an on-line computer service next month to be available free through the Net, initially offering music industry news from Sony Music Entertainment. Other services, to be drawn from all of Sony’s entertainment divisions, will be available later this year. Separately, New York Times Co. said it plans to produce an on-line sports network to provide news and tips. Earlier this week, the company said it would test listing of employment advertising on the Internet.
