OUT OF THE CLOSET: For 15 years, art at Fullerton College was shown in what some called not-so-fondly “400 square feet of closet space.” But no more. The college is having a successful run with the first show in its shiny, newly expanded Art Gallery--1,600 square feet. . . . Says spokesman Bill Hayner: “We’ve always shown good quality work, but not in a facility it deserved.” The current show on violence in America runs through Sept. 23.

BOOK OF DOPES: In his unauthorized book, “Mouse Tales: A Behind-the-Ears Look at Disneyland” (E1), David Koenig says employees chuckle over what they consider “visitor brainlessness.” Fantasyland workers once kept an autograph book with a Dopey sticker attached and wrote down unusual comments made by tourists. . . . A typical entry in the “Dopey Book”: One elderly woman to another near the Matterhorn: “Isn’t it wonderful how they found a mountain to build an amusement park around?”

FELINE FAME: It’s no coincidence that in a new book, “Who’s Who of Cats,” five of the seven local cats profiled have the last name “Kubeldis.” That’s because Darlene Mitcheltree of Huntington Beach, above, who teaches animal care classes and has a cat in the book, recommended to the author the cats of good friends Dennis and Denise Kubeldis, who live close by. “They were surprised but thrilled,” says Mitcheltree. . . . Besides cats, Mitcheltree’s family owns dogs, iguanas, frogs, a kinkajou, and chinchillas--plus a pig-shaped mailbox.

FOR CINDY: Cindy Aitken of Garden Grove was looking forward to running in the Boston Marathon when she was struck by a car last year and ended up in a six-month coma at UC Irvine Medical Center in Orange. After a year of grueling therapy, she now uses a wheelchair to get around. . . . On Saturday--her birthday--the Women’s Manufacturing Network is having a parking lot sale at 18435 Bandilier Circle in Fountain Valley. The $1 admission fees all go to Aitken.
