Share

The state has given $309,000 to fund emergency housing programs for homeless people in the county.

The money will be distributed to groups assisting the homeless by the Orange County Emergency Food and Shelter Board, which is made up of representatives of charity groups such as the American Red Cross, United Way of Orange County, AFL-CIO Community Services and the League of Women Voters.

The money was made available under the State Emergency Housing and Assistance Program. The money will be given to groups that provide shelter as well as “self-sufficiency development” programs to homeless people.
