GARDEN GROVE : New Business Hours at Police Department

The Police Department has changed the business hours at its headquarters on Acacia Parkway, a spokesman said.

Capt. Dave Abrecht said that under the new schedule, which took effect Saturday, non-emergency matters, such as requests for insurance reports, will be accepted from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday at the front desk.

The lobby and front desk are closed for business on Sundays, he said.

The changes will enable the department to provide better service because all desk employees will be available during the designated business hours, Abrecht said.

“Every effort is being made to deploy our limited resources in a manner that has the most impact on community safety,” he said. “This will allow us to place a majority of our . . . personnel in the field, solving neighborhood problems.”

Business hours were previously 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. daily. The new schedule is the result of a recent study that indicated the hours that people are likely to conduct non-emergency business, Abrecht said.

However, members of the public may still make non-emergency police reports by telephone between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m. every day, he said.
