LOS ALAMITOS : Council OKs Update of Development Laws

Share

The City Council has tentatively approved an ordinance that would set guidelines for land development in the city.

It voted 4 to 0 on Monday to approve a subdivision ordinance updating the city’s development laws for the first time in more than 20 years. Councilman Charles E. Sylvia was absent.

The ordinance will reflect changes in state law and recent court rulings relating to how land is parceled or combined for development, City Atty. Thomas W. Allen said.

A key provision requires developers to notify neighboring property owners before dividing or combining lots for housing or commercial development.

In addition, the ordinance would require developers to set aside areas for public uses in proposed developments.
