WILMINGTON : 2 Public Hearings Set on Waste Facility

Share

The California Environmental Protection Agency will hold two public hearings Wednesday on a proposed environmental report for a hazardous waste facility.

An independent contractor will write the report for ENSCO West Inc., which began operating on East Denni Street in Wilmington on March 1.

The company treats and disposes of hazardous waste and can store up to 100,000 gallons of waste on the two-acre property. It does not handle radioactive materials or explosives, ENSCO General Manager Scot Shoemaker told residents at a recent Wilmington North Neighborhood Assn. meeting.

ENSCO has been operating under temporary authorization from the state.

The meetings will be at the Wilmington Boys and Girls Club, 1444 W. Q St., at 2 and 7 p.m.
