THOUSAND OAKS : City Will Donate Services for Seminar

They may not be able to round up a red carpet, but Thousand Oaks council members have agreed to contribute $3,000 worth of services to a seminar on the Global Information Age, which former Vice President Dan Quayle is expected to attend.

Titled “Passport to Tomorrow,” the international conference will bring foreign dignitaries and journalists to the new Civic Arts Plaza next month for a daylong caucus on the information superhighway. Thousand Oaks’ contribution will come mainly in the form of labor, to help set up the event and film it for local cable. The World Affairs Council of Ventura County, a nonprofit group, plans the event for Oct. 27.
