Two Youths Arrested in Stabbing at School Parking Lot

Police have arrested two juveniles in connection with a stabbing that critically wounded an 18-year-old Stanton youth earlier this week, authorities said Thursday.

A 14-year-old Buena Park boy and a 17-year-old Anaheim youth were arrested about 4 p.m. Wednesday on suspicion of attempted murder, according to Sgt. Steve Rodig of the Anaheim Police Department. The suspects, who were not identified because of their ages, were being held in Orange County Juvenile Hall, Rodig said.

“It’s our belief the incident is gang-related,” Rodig said.

Investigators believe the suspects stabbed Alfredo Alonso in the chest with a screwdriver Tuesday afternoon in the parking lot at Anaheim’s Western High School, Rodig said. Alonso was there to pick up his 16-year-old sister from school.

Neither of the suspects are students at Western High School, Rodig said.

Alonso is in guarded but stable condition at UCI Medical Center in Orange, Rodig said.
