Salomon Party Planner Gets Probation: Kathy Tompkins, 38, who once earned $150,000 a year arranging parties and conferences around the world, had pleaded guilty to submitting bogus invoices to Salomon Bros. She was sentenced to five years’ probation and ordered to undergo psychiatric counseling. Tompkins’ defense lawyer said the crimes resulted from stress and family problems. She has repaid $400,000 from her pension fund and from the sale of jewelry bought with Salomon funds. From June, 1992, to October, 1993, Tompkins boosted her income by turning in phony invoices claiming she had purchased china, silverware and linen.
