DEAD CALM: It’s a Deadhead’s dream . . . and a Dead-hater’s nightmare: Toronto producer John Oswald combed through 25 years worth of live recordings of the Grateful Dead’s “Dark Star”--perhaps the group’s most-loved and most-dreaded spacey excursion--and, using a process he calls Plunderphonics, edited pieces of different performances into a seamless, hour-long piece he’s titled “Grayfolded.” And, depending on your leanings, you can either rejoice . . . or run and hide: A second volume of the effort is due next year.
