Salaam, who has seven touchdowns in two games, finished with 85 yards in 26 carries.

The 55 points were the most Colorado has scored against a ranked opponent and the most allowed by Wisconsin since 1988.

The Buffaloes scored on five of their first six possessions.

Chris Hudson’s 29-yard punt return set up the first touchdown. Stewart ran 16 yards, then passed 13 yards to Michael Westbrook, and Salaam’s second-effort run from one yard out made it 7-0.

Two plays later, safety Steve Rosga made the first interception off Darrell Bevell at the Colorado 43. Illegal motion and holding penalties stymied that drive, and Colorado settled for Neil Voskeritchian’s 48-yard field goal.

The Badgers responded with a career-best 51-yard field goal by John Hall moments later.

Early in the second quarter, safety Donnell Leomiti stepped in front of intended receiver Brent Moss, picked off Bevell’s pass and returned it 43 yards to the Wisconsin seven. Salaam scored from the three to make it 17-3.

Wisconsin’s next possession also ended in an interception, as cornerback Chris Hudson got in front of J.C. Dawkins and returned the theft six yards to midfield to set up a 35-yard field goal by Voskeritchian.

Badger running back Brent Moss rushed for 118 yards, his 13th consecutive 100-yard game.
