MISSION VIEJO : 2 Restaurants Seek Approval to Open

Share

In a city that once bemoaned a dearth of quality dining experiences, two more restaurants are seeking approval at a Planning Commission meeting tonight.

Applications for a Boston Chicken Restaurant at Marguerite Parkway and Estanciero Drive and a Dairy Queen restaurant in the new Mission Viejo Freeway Center will be heard by commissioners.

The Boston Chicken franchise would join a previously approved California Pizza Kitchen and a Blockbuster Video store.

The 3,459-square-foot building requested by the national restaurant chain is more than 5,000 square feet smaller than the city approved when the project was proposed in 1993.

In addition, the commission will also hear a report on alleged problems with trash, graffiti and vandalism in the Mission Viejo Village Shopping Center.

Merchants in the center had complained about teen loitering and trash near a Del Taco restaurant.

However, city code enforcement officers said litter stemming from the fast-food restaurant was minimal.

The shopping center is not a major hangout for teen-agers in Mission Viejo, sheriff’s deputies said.
