YORBA LINDA : City May Ease Rules on Use of Center
Social clubs and hobby groups will be treated the same as other nonprofit organizations when it comes to using the Yorba Linda Community Center under a policy the City Council will consider tonight.
Currently, only groups that have a narrowly defined tax-exempt status from the state qualify as nonprofit organizations. The city gives 12 free uses per calendar year of the community center to nonprofit groups and charges them lower fees for additional uses.
While many groups benefit from the policy, others complain that it excludes them because they lack tax-exempt status.
