PREP EXTRA / SATURDAY FOOTBALL PULLOUT : Whittier La Serna’s Brown Dominates Bolsa Grande, 35-13
Jay Brown scored two touchdowns and Whittier La Serna collected 28 points in the second quarter to beat Bolsa Grande, 35-13.
After a blocked Matador punt, Brown scored a touchdown from a yard out in the first quarter. He then gave the Lancers (3-0) a 28-7 lead with three minutes remaining in the half on a seven-yard scoring reception from Mike Hale that was set up by an interception.
Eric Shaner had the lone offensive highlight for Bolsa Grande (1-2), with an 84-yard touchdown run that made it 13-7 with 7:21 left in the second quarter.
But that was as close as the Matadors would get, as Andy George scored on an 11-yard pass from Hale four minutes later. A two-point conversion, Brown’s second touchdown and a 13-yard Hale keeper added to La Serna’s lead.
